People are strange.

No, seriously. A screed about the importance of memorable domain names, posted across the front page of a how-to-grow-potatoes website (with actual content on breeding potatoes, mind you!) replicated across 95 different domain names? Does this make sense in your universe?

(Also, did you know that 2008 is the International Year of the Potato?)

::blink::

Why aren't the non-English domains hosting a translated version of the site? Seems peculiar.

(Hm. If you'd wanted us to know how you found this, you probably would have said. Must have been somewhere seedy.)

I too am a bit curious as to how he found this. It may have been a result of dinner coversation, but I'd like to know for sure. *raises an eyebrow*

I found it by googling for kartouffel, because my Russian and German colleagues were discussing fillings in the ravioli/pierogi that the Russian colleague was having for breakfast. And the German colleague noted that the picture of the box of pierogi that the Russian colleague said was just like what he was eating said "kartouffel" on it in Cyrilic, and wondered if that was a Russian word, since it was also a German word. So I wondered what it meant, and in the first few bits of the Google results was www.kartouffel.com.

Simple, really.

And now I really want potato dumplings for breakfast....
